Workaholics Anonymous is a quirky, light-hearted comedy about the trials and tribulations of self-employment. Dan Jette might spend his business day alone in his quiet home office, but in his mind, he is an over-worked, cubicle-bound employee in a busy office building. As he pushes through his 9-5 grind, he begins to wonder why he’s the only employee actually doing anything. According to Director Robert Bartolome, "Self-employment is stressful, and it takes a toll on everyone. This film not only captures that experience, but also recognizes and illustrates the importance of balancing work and personal life." ![]() 2010 Body of Proof - funeral attendee - Praise Productions 2010 Katrina 05 - documentary - Hwy 90 Films2010 The Village Green - Co-Host www.fctv.org/villagegreen 2010 What's Your Number starring Anna Farris- restaurant 2010 Skippy Harris the Movie Critic, music video - Ben Allsup 2010 Missing - Supporting Role, "Father" 1248 Productions 2010 Workaholics Anonymous - Lead, Rab Studios 2008 Bride Wars starring Kate Hudson - office co-worker 2008 Mall Cops starring Kevin James - mall customer 2005 Hurricane Katrina - a documentary film, N.O. "We always like to have an informal, relaxed get-together for the cast," said Producer Allison Freitas. "It's a great way for everyone to meet eachother over some food or coffee."
www.rabstudios.com The orientation also includes a read-through of the script. "Some of the actors are in completely different scenes, and they may not even see each other for the entire production," said Robert Bartolome. "This is really the one time the entire group can come together and get a feel for the film. And plus, I think a little comradery can really go a long way during production." With filming just around the corner, the Rab staff will be back to work on Monday, finalizing schedules, preparing equipment, and drinking many cups of coffee. In the meantime, check out allworkaholics.com for photos from the orientation. www.allworkaholics.com Last week marked the launch of the "Workaholics Anonymous" Facebook fan page, which has already become Rab Studio's most active FB venture. Thank you to everyone who jumped onto our "Workaholics Anonymous" Facebook fan page. It had a quiet launch last week, and we rose to over a hundred fans in just a few days. More on that below, but the page already promises to not only connect people to the film, but also offer a social area for workaholics to swap ideas and vent about their daily grind. Within days, the page's "Wall" became an emotional support group, offering a place for fans to admit, "I am a workaholic." The discussion board has also seen a wide range of topics, such as tips and tricks, as well as the pros and cons of self-employment vs. finding a job. "We're already surprised at how quickly the page has grown," said Producer Allison Freitas. "It's pretty clear that this page is bigger than the film itself, and we'd like to continue growing it as a place for real-life workaholics to connect and network." In addition to updates about the film, the page is constantly sharing helpful links and articles, from getting the most out of weekends to ditching the Monday morning blues. Only a week since it's launch, and the fan page is already becoming a great resource for all the crazy, caffeine-driven workaholics out there. My name is _______________ and I'm a workaholic.

"We obviously wanted the poster to capture the quirkiness of the film," said Producer Allison Freitas, "but we spent a lot of time coming up with a design that will pop out at the festivals." The design will also carry over to the DVD and soundtrack artwork, mini postcards, and many other publicity materials. "This is the last piece of the puzzle," said Robert Bartolome. "We want to have everything completely set and ready to ship in three weeks, when we'll be able to announce some premiere dates and all the fun stuff." March 1st, brought along the second production day for Workaholics Anonymous, which took place at New Bedford's Chamber of Commerce. With a cast of ten and crew of twenty, the team was able to get nearly fifteen script pages in the can. "It's been a long, tiring day," said a fatigued Producer Allison Freitas, "and everyone is going to get a great night's sleep. But we made it, and we're more than happy with what we've accomplished." ![]() From slower dialogue-driven scenes to swooping crane shots of the busy office floor, the Rab crew worked relentlessly to make sure every single shot was captured by the end of the day. "We're really lucky to have Pertinent Pictures with us," said Director Robert Bartolome. "Todd Walker and his grip crew really brought the production to a whole new level. They've taken care of all the lighting setups, and we couldn't have gotten our incredible opening jib shot without them." ![]() "Today's shoot took care of the majority of the film," said Freitas. "We have two or three minor scenes to take care of, but we're over the hump and onto the home stretch." With Saturday's 20-hour production day complete, the footage will be reviewed and prepared for post-production editing, where the film will be slowly pieced together. ![]() Joe Uveges "Self Employment Swing" Photograph, Joe Uveges copyright 2010 Joe Uveges has meandered the path of quiet musical anonymity on Colorado's front range for more than 18 years now. Raised a farm kid in Schoharie New York, pummeled by liberal academics at Union College and Catholic University, a grizzled veteran of bar bands and coffeehouses, he should be a burned out skeleton of a man playing Allman Brother covers, tipping lukewarm Coors from a can, and lamenting broken marriages and illegitimate kids. He is not. His woefully-quirky folk anthem "Self Employment Swing" sets the stage forWorkaholics Anonymous, and while the song manages to maintain an unwavering sense of humor right up to the final chord, beneath its bubbly surface is the constant unease of a real-life workaholic. Their laid-back vibes coupled with the energetic undertones of artists like Matthew Sweet and The Beatles deliver an emotional rollercoaster of sound. For Workaholics Anonymous, the band offers the gentle revelation that is "Busy Day," a magical morning overture that keeps its gaze toward life's new adventures, whilst still clutching onto the playful innocence of youth. Gallery's "To Tell A Story Through the Lens" event on July 1st, the first teaser for Workaholics Anonymouswill be playing at allworkaholics.com next week. "We made the clip specifically for the [Artworks!] event," said Producer Allison Freitas, "but it received such a great response that we felt it deserved to be online." The short film is currently being packaged with its press kit for festival distribution in the coming weeks. "It's important that we provide a full experience when we submit the film to festivals," said Director Robert Bartolome, "so we've taken some time to go the extra mile with the press kit." The crew is also planning a number of regional premieres and screenings. Stay tuned for more information, and make sure you check out next week's teaser at allworkaholics.com. |
